2024-11-23--24 ZHF 24.11 hackathon -- OST, Zürich (Rapperswil-Jona)

Hi all, the fifth round of the Zürich ZHF hackathon is taking place, this time for the 24.11 NixOS release! Again we will meet on the last weekend of November at the OST right next to Lake Zürich.

This is a great opportunity to learn Nix, squash bugs together, get to know each other, discuss current events, and make plans for the future. We’ll also have high-profile contributors from all over the Nix ecosystem joining us: @Infinisil and @tfc are coming, and we’re waiting for more confirmations.

We’ll start with a brief round of lightning talks to set the mood and bring you up to date, and then get to hacking. Prepare yourselves for culinary surprises!

For more information, visit the Zurich Nix user group website. There, you can find links to sign up on Meetup. Contact the organisers on the Matrix channel if you have any questions. Also check the report from the 24.05 ZHF hackathon.

Please take a moment to register in advance so we can plan accordingly for snacks and drinks. Bring a friend – you’ll get a T-shirt.

See you there!

This time we’re finally going to get our hands dirty on user experience design for the ecosystem:

Also looking forward to meeting @roberth, @Niols, and @SynQ who currently work on the Fediversity project, as well as @imincik who is working on making Nixpkgs the first choice for geospatial software.

Reminder: Don’t forget to RSVP on Meetup so can plan for supplies!

Only about three weeks left until the 24.11 ZHF Hackathon!

Looking forward to finally meet Summer of Nix 2024 contributors @wegank and @Erictapen in person, and reconvene with @hsjobeki, the man behind RFC 145 and noogle.dev. Also really happy to hopefully see again our regulars such as @das-g @gefla @nebu!

There will be ~40 people attending, which already makes it the greatest Zürich ZHF ever. Great many thanks to @ners and @john-rodewald for making all of this possible.

To get you in the mood for one of the things I’d like to discuss and hack on, here’s an analysis of the 2024 community survey results that relates to the questions we came up with in the previous UX workshop:
