# AMD 9070 XT Linux experiences - early June 2025

there’s a recently fixed bug upstream that may be causing this. [see this previous discussion for a workaround](https://discourse.nixos.org/t/lockups-with-kernel-6-14-7-and-amd-gpus/64585) that resolved the issue for me. the fix has been merged into AMD’s drm repo and the patch has been submitted to the mainline but I don’t think there’s been a release yet with the fix.

so check dmesg and see if this is what you’re experiencing, because if so, it’s a relatively simple [workaround](https://gitlab.com/shackra/puntoarchivos/-/commit/809ef6af0d485477e6d00c178cb6c07f0587515d) for the time being. bit annoying that this made it into a release but at least the fix isn’t involved.
