Bootable USB: can I use a Type-C drive?

Will a USB Type-C flash drive work for creating a bootable USB? I’ve always done it with a more traditional type A in the past, and I suspect there’s no reason a type C wouldn’t work, but thought I’d check before I buy one.

Type C is just a connector. Whether or not it will work will largely be dependent on whether the kernel has a driver for the controller driving the port. But that’s mostly independent from whether that controller is wired to a Type C or Type A connector, as I understand it.
