Cache.nixos.org, 100kb/s download speed

I am on a connection that provides 170mb/s download.

But since some time, cache.nixos.org is painfully slow, roughly 100kb/s

I am on a medium large and kinda nieche VPN provider, which might be the issue.

Split tunneling is nontrivial so I would like a way to login or something, as i assume this is another horrible result from our lovely AI crawlers needing to be held back?

Maybe try mtr or traceroute to cache.nixos.org (it’s just a Fastly CDN endpoint). Wondering if you got some sort of pathologically bad route to it or something.

Before splitting the tunnel, it’s probably worth investigating it by temporarily disabling it and see what native speeds you get.

I disabled the VPN and had no change

Other things are downloading fine
