Call for Volunteers: Standing Election Committee

We are looking for volunteers to form a standing Election Committee (EC).

The EC is responsible for running Steering Committee (SC) elections in an orderly and transparent manner, as described in the Nix Governance Constitution.

Normally, SC elections happen once per year. However, the Constitution also allows for special elections to be called when needed. In those situations, it is important to be able to form an EC quickly so that a new SC can be elected without unnecessary delay.

To facilitate this, we would like to maintain a standing pool of EC volunteers who are willing to help run both regular and special elections.

Running an election involves both procedural and technical work: understanding the relevant provisions of the Constitution, coordinating the election process, and maintaining the supporting infrastructure (such as GitHub repositories, automation, and assorted Nix wizardry). Ideal volunteers are interested in some combination of governance processes and technical systems work.

The two ECs have so far consisted of 3 members, though this may change in the future. Since volunteers may occasionally be unavailable, we are looking for more than 3 volunteers overall, from which a subset can be selected when an election needs to be run.

If you are interested in helping, please post here and join the SC Elections Matrix channel.

Thank you on behalf of the current standing EC volunteers:
