Cant link my dotfiles using home-manager in a flake(using git submodule)

Cannot use git submodule in home-manager home.file

I believe that this is the wrong flake reference, as you have to explicitly enable submodules. Instead of ~/dotfiles (which implicitly resolves to git+file://~/dotfiles) try git+file://~/dotfiles?submodules=1. I think this works for local git repos, but not 100% sure, this syntax isn’t documented at all.
