Courses or structured learning communities - are there any?

Hiya! I’m looking for a community of NixOS learners who are also just starting out, where we can learn and grow together in real-time. I’d love to join a space where we can have live discussions, share projects, and work on problems together. This kind of collaborative learning environment would help me stay motivated, overcome obstacles, and develop my skills faster.

I’m open to different formats, but I think what’s most important is having real-time interaction with others who are also learning NixOS. Whether it’s through regular video calls, Discord channels, or online meetups, I’d love to find a community that can offer this kind of support and feedback. Online courses with live sessions, Q&A, and peer feedback would also be great - being able to see how others apply what they’ve learned in real-time would be incredibly valuable.

TL;DR The manual is hard to work with and kind of mind-numbing, are there any structured courses or real-time learning communities for NixOS?

There’s a matrix and an unofficial discord for realtime chat, but I’ve never heard of a structured course for NixOS.

In 2023 the documentation team put a lot of effort in scaffolding a curriculum for the most vital Nix skills:

This is merely a collection of curated resources, but the Nix-related Matrix rooms probably come closest in terms of learning community. You’re encoraged to organise calls or meetups though (the NixOS Foundation will even reimburse some costs).

nix.dev is amazing!

Another course I know is this one here: Scrive Nix Workshop - Scrive Nix Workshop

And this I found helpful as well:
