CTRL-OS December Updates (NixOS LTS with 5-Year Support)

Hey everyone! I’m Julian from the CTRL-OS team at Cyberus Technology. I wanted to share a quick update on what’s been happening in the CTRL-OS world since we announced the open beta back at NixCon.

Our 24.05 LTS is running smoothly, and we’ve been steadily keeping the supported package set fresh. If you need a stable, long-lived base to build your product on, feel free to reach out! The easiest way to find us is on Matrix: #ctrl-os:cyberus-technology.de.

We’ve also been more active on our YouTube channel. You can get a peek at our new demo hardware (just in time for :christmas_tree:), and if you’re curious, I also recorded a quick walkthrough for getting started.

Over the past few months, we’ve been expanding our CTRL-OS GitHub org. Most of what we build is open source, and we’re working on making it easier to explore, try, and contribute.

Our LTS work now lives on GitHub :rocket:. You can find the 24.05 Beta branch here. To make trying out CTRL-OS simpler, we’re now also publishing install ISOs—check the Downloads page and the 24.05 manuals.

If you’re wondering what’s next, have a look at our roadmap. Right now, our main focus is robotics and industrial use cases, but we’re always interested in hearing from other domains.

And looking a bit ahead: for 2026, the big milestone is launching 26.05 LTS. We’ll share more details as we get closer.

See you in 2026! :waving_hand:
