Determinate is the future of Nix today: Wasm, provenance, and flake schemas

Upstreaming progress? Pull requests? Anything else except for taking a jab at the Nix project?

But as a long-standing user and contributor, I think that the upstream Nix project has long been suffering under the weight of stagnation and an inability to rally around a coherent vision for the future.

As always, lots of work on upstream: Pull requests · NixOS/nix · GitHub

That should be mentioned front and center in the article you linked.

No amount of upstream work seems to be sufficient for our detractors, so we don’t really bother anymore

Sidenote: For as long as Determinate blog has existed, it has refused to load anything beyond white background on my phone. Android, Firefox, uBlock Origin with fairly strict filters. I believe the combination breaks something on the site, and has made me unable to read your blog at all.

It’s nice these changes are also getting added but what do you mean we don’t bother with adding them in our announcements anymore? The blog is basically implying these changes are on only determinate nix and only when somebody mentions it on the discourse the changes to upstream is shared.

I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the number of available permutations across OS, browser, mobile vs desktop, plugins, etc makes it virtually inevitable that some combination is going to interact poorly with your site/app in a way that you could never anticipate. Any info you can provide from the console or networking tab?
