Do you have more details about this? AIUI you don’t need to use flakes to use the new CLI, many subcommands accept -f which allows using arbitrary nix files relative to which specified expressions would be evaluated, so I’m curious where the coupling is.
The coupling that does concern me is flakes with pure eval, and it seems others share that concern.
