I don’t think people appreciate how huge the Nix code base is and much fucking work it is to get anything done. I started working on Lix roughly half a year ago and was only able to quickly become productive in it thanks to pennae being an awesome mentor. On average, I’ve been working roughly 10h/week on the code base since, and yet I’ve barely made a dent on the projects I set out to work on. At the current pace, some of them will still take years. Most non-trivial changes send you on a goose chase of side quests, other bugs to fix first, and debugging spurious segfaults at the other end of the code base.
