Hi, I’ve set up my laptop fingerprint reader using fprintd and can now use it to authenticate for sudo, hyprlock, etc.
When I use sudo, the prompt “Place your […] finger on the fingerprint reader” appears, but if I don’t touch the reader, it automatically times out after about 10 seconds, and the standard password prompt appears instead. I would like to either increase or disable this timeout since I find it quite annoying.
The issue appears not to be limited to sudo: when I lock my screen with hyprlock, unlocking with a fingerprint also only works for the first few seconds; after that, touching the reader has no effect, and I have to use the password.
I’ve tried setting the timeout parameter of the fprintd PAM module (with security.pam.services.<name>.rules.auth.fprintd.settings.timeout) to a high number or -1 (disabled), but without success. The timeout I am experiencing seems to originate somewhere else.
Could anyone help me pinpoint where the timeout originates and how it could be modified? Thanks!
