  - Last time we discussed this PR we we’re skeptical, but left some potential paths forward.
  - We’ve closed it for now, as that seems like the most correct solution.

  - No changes since we last reviewed. It still looks good, other than a couple minor blockers (a formatting issue, a problematic test case, and a merge conflict).
