Installation fails at begin of nixos-install!

Hi

I’m trying to install Nix on my Clevo laptop (chinese hardware well supported by Linux) but when I start the nix install script I get that error:

[nixos@nixos:~]$ sudo nixos-install --show-trace

Pretty lost here about exact source of problem as it doesn’t look linked with my config file :frowning:

Thanks

Hey. It looks like you might have skipped the hardware config generation step. This will make sure to detect your partition scheme and put it in a hardware-configuration.nix

nixos-generate-config --root /mnt

oki will try again whole procedure just to be sure (as I have only one computer for now, have to exchange HD in it to pass between my running Ubuntu configuration and my new Nix config I try to get up
Side question: I had well a hardware configuration file in the config directory so not sure if I missed the step or file exists by default and overwritten when you run the hardware detection ?
Side question (bis sorry): if I understand properly how it works, it means I can put also in the hardware configuration file all I need for my NVidia and Optimus/Prime system right ? so at first boot of new system it’ll be straight working on my NVidia card ? or just pickup the proper configuration file for it (nixpkgs/nvidia.nix at e887706c1fe05a54c907a3e07e7373748d6fd313 · NixOS/nixpkgs · GitHub like that one) and drops it in config file and it’ll be taken into account by Nix during install ?

Thanks for all
