I tried to install nixos with kde plasma but it took a long time. Checking my internet speed is normal. Is it probably because downloading from cache.nixos.org is slow?
Nah.
It’s most likely your ISP is throttling, assuming you’re not bottlenecked by your machine or disk I/O (unlikely, but worth mentioning).
You could try adding one of the Chinese mirrors like TUNA depending on what part of the world you are in. I have had really bad download times at certain times of the year from the main cache.
I am trying curl again with more precise file to check the download speed per second. Turned out that download speed is normal. So it seems kde plasma install on nixos is taking more a long time that install gnome. I give up
try https://speed.edgecompute.app for download speed
Download speed is normal. I think compiling KDE plasma takes a long time for nix os. I installed gnome long time ago and the installing speed is fast. Maybe next time for kde
update: i tried switching to my LAN (bought the converter) and then… the installation became so fast. so it seems my wifi is not normal….
