Hello,
First of all, I’m new to NixOS and have been using it for about a month.
I’m having an issue where my main monitor freezes seemingly at random. It’s connected via DisplayPort to an RX 7800 XT. The issue is temporarily resolved after I unplug the monitor.
My second monitor is connected via HDMI and doesn’t have this problem.
I’ve also tried different distros (Fedora, OpenSUSE and Arch) and the issue occurs on all of them.
My NixOS config is hosted here on GitHub.
I have uploaded the journalctl and demesg output since last boot with the error to proton drive here
Could you post a log from just after a freeze? Appreciate it’s a bit hard, but hat’s a lot of logs to wade through, and we don’t get to narrow things down on our end.
dmesg would be a more condensed view that might help, too.
Hello, thank you for your response.
I have updated the link in my post to a folder instead a file. This folder now contains the the full journalctl and demesg outputs from the day the error occured, as well as a trimmed version from just the freeze.
Yep, I mean, this happening on multiple distros was a pretty sure indicator anyway, but this is a kernel bug. Not much you can do but try to avoid whatever actions are causing this.
You can try using the linux_latest kernel, if you still run into issues report a bug to the amdgpu repo or the kernel mailing list: NixOS Search
