system.autoUpgrade.flake might be relevant to you!

yep, this feature is nice but the autoUpgrade module is not super useful from a central management point of view. But that could fit solution 1 case, instead of writing a custom module, autoUpgrade could be used.

I already use autoUpgrade on a few of my computers, but only to check for software updates.
