My first noob try with NixOs configuration files for Winboat and xfce

I Installed NixOs and try to learn how to work with it. I found the 2 configuration files /etc/nixos/configuration.nix and the hardware-cofiguration .

During the install I chosen Gnome as the desktop but now I want to change this to xfce just to get the hung out of it. So I took the default configuration file and changed th is:

# Enable the GNOME Desktop Environ ment.

# services.displayManager.gdm.enable = true;

# services.desktopManager.gnome.enable = tr ue;

services.xserver.enabl e = true;

services.displayManager.lightdm.enab le = true;

services.desktopManager.xfce.ena ble = true;

But as aspected from a NOOB, nice thaught but no way. Rebuil doe sn’t work

Then how to get Winb oat I DIT THIS

THE SAME Doesn’t work I, rebuilding it massive errors ar e reported. What am I doing wrong?

Your post contains a bunch of random spaces in places where they shouldn’t be, are those in your actual config as well? That would explain why it doesn’t work.

What do you mean by doesn’t work. There should be an error message or something.

I just install nixos as well but I started with xfce. If you would like me to send you my configuration.nix send me a pm. It is for xfce and I have only configured libreoffice and thunder.

For errors it’s not an effective use of anyone’s time to guess what errors you are getting. Posting them would be a start to figuring out what might be wrong.

Did install Nixos using xfce in stat of gnome. Works fine but that not the way trying to learn the NixOs.

Now stil the problem with Winboat is there. Why Winboat, lets say because of Garmins Basecamp
