I trued the unstable and minimal latest versions of 24.11 and the only thing that worked was rebuilding the ISO. Finally got my DFI computers to boot.
Spent all day trying to get the latest 24.11 minimal to boot – same issue, after the initial graphic menu (to choose e.g. nomodeset) it goes immediately back to BIOS with the press of any button. No luck with e or t.
Tried multiple USBs, tried enabling CSM, tried 24.05 and 23.11 without luck.
Debian boots fine.
netboot.xyz worked to get me into NixOS.
Hi all, I was able to get my machine to boot after I added the suggestion made on this thread System won't boot path EFI stub - #12 by anon-20250105
I do not understand why it worked but it did.
FYI: The PR created by @ElvishJerricco located https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/410324 does produce an ISO and builds/installs boot correctly.
Confirmed on my machine (Minisforum X7 TI)
Unfortunately the release from that PR didn’t seem to work for me either (or the one from main download page). Found this thread while searching for the same issue as OP and was also able to fix by changing textmode=true in the grub.cfg.
Happy to try anything else if it would help find a more permanent fix.
