# nixhooks: A small, fast, drop-in replacement for git-hooks.nix

Cool! Curious to see how you benchmarked.

`nixhooks` seems to be fast for no hooks case, which is uninteresting because you wouldn’t use it then.

For the rest with `prek` it’s pretty much on pair. Actually slower for 40 hooks.

Hey Domen. The benchmarks I initially included in the repository were fairly rough since I didn’t expect anyone to see this project. I’ve created a more thorough and reproducible benchmark at [poacher.dev/nixhooks-benchmark at main · Tangled](https://tangled.org/poacher.dev/nixhooks-benchmark) . I’m not sure where your numbers come from, in my testing with 40 hooks enabled nixhooks is on par with the prek backend and much faster than it when parallelism is enabled.

I really appreciate this not depending on flakes. Works like a charm with Nixtamal. Already switched my config to use it. Thanks!
