I would add a “feature” : the NixOS community. I have rarely met such welcoming people who are willing to help beginners. And I think this contributes greatly to our experience with NixOS.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately and I’d like to update my previous answer.
For me, NixOS’ killer feature is that your whole OS is managed by one giant config file. This is made maintainable thanks to this file being generated by a lazy language which helps you break this file into modules and reusable building blocks.
