Would highly appreciate it dude, I really struggled as a beginner trying to find resources on how to run FHS compilant software.
You do have options besides distrobox, though, e.g.
steam-runwould probably work for the type of software you mention.
Personally I found distrobox to be more flexible, like I once needed a render engine to integrate with blender and idk if steam run can do it (ofc I couldnt get the engine to work using distrobox because again no CUDA).
I really hate the fact my software makes me not be able to use nixos despite it being the os I have liked the most
