In that case, nixos-option on stable is a badly-written C++ program, I’m not surprised. It was rewritten to use the CLI though, and now supports flakes, so it should be better in the next release.

The only changes compared to the PR above:
- Move release notes to 25.05
- Move to `pkgs/by-name`
- Add a warning for Flake usage, since there are known issues. I think this is a good compromise instead of completely removing Flake support, but let me know if someone is against it, I can remove it instead
- Add `nixosTests.installer.simpleUefiSystemdBoot` as `passthru.tests` since `nixos-option` failure is a channel blocker: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/363967
