Hi!
I’ve realized that my setup (NixOS, hyprland on Nvidia) has some strange browser issues. I tried Brave first which died all the time on hyprland so I guess there’s an issue there. So instead I decided to try some of the firefox based browsers (Firefox, Librewolf, Zen, etc.).
I settled on Zen (beta) but I’m getting the same issue here that I got with all the other Firefox-based browser:
The browser just hangs every few seconds. Like it doesn’t respond to inputs at all although when switching active windows and then go back, all the content will be there (e.g I can continue typing, the text won’t appear at first but I can still see it when I switch back). Switching my active window to another application and back usually fixes the issue but it’s very annoying.
Anyone else having this issue or knows how to fix it?
This may be a Cpufreq governor issue. Is the power-profiles-daemon installed on your system? It might be that firefox is becoming unresponsive because your system is on a lower governance profile. This is just my hunch though from my own experience.
Otherwise, see if you can reproduce the issue on KDE Plasma. Standalone compositors like Hyprland may not be as compatible with certain setups. If Brave (chromium) didn’t function as well, then it might be a hyprland issue (or something else entirely).
I’m on a quite powerful desktop pc so that shouldn’t be the issue. Afaik I also couldn’t find an installation of the power-profiles-daemon.
I also thought if it could be a more generic issue but so far all the issues I encountered were in several firefox-based browsers and Brave that didn’t work with Hypr (works with another DE on the same installation).
