Out of memory rebuilding NixOS unstable

I am trying to update my NixOS unstable system on my DELL notebook with 16 GB of RAM. But the process can not complete. Rebuilding stales with full RAM and swap usage. I have tried at least three times.

# nixos-rebuild boot

Prior updates worked as expected.

Is anybody else seen this behavior too?

Any clues?

The culprit seems to be the package yaru-theme, which is consuming almost 100% of CPU and all the memory.
