# The SC's role in the disbandment of the Nixpkgs core team

A “public joint statement” doesn’t work if the purpose of the joint statement is to [obfuscate the specifics](https://discourse.nixos.org/t/the-sc-prepared-to-lie-to-us-and-what-we-can-do-about-it-whistleblow/70103). The SC is very obviously the _root_ of the dysfunction, and therefore cannot be expected to repair itself without outside pressure.
