Ultra WQHD Monitor not working with kde or xfce

I bought a monitor that I haven’t been able to get working with nixos. It works with my mac computer. To troubleshot I have check the display dialogs. The monitor shows up but the correct resolutions are not there.

When I check the xorg log this is what I see after plugging in the monitor.

There are some warnings but I think they are for the laptop display, not the new monitor. When the monitor is plugged in it is still blank. Any thoughts on what else I can do?

what is your config like ?

e.g.
hardware.video.hidpi.enable = lib.mkDefault true;

I don’t see any settings for hardware.video

I added the option

hardware.video.hidpi.enable = true;

But I still have the same issue. This monitor is connected using a usbc to hdmi cable.

Do the HDMI adapter and cable work on other computers or operating systems?

3440x1440 is a pretty high resolution and it might not be capable of that.

Have you tried wayland?

What driver is this under anyway?
