# Unofficial Nix/NixOS Community on Fluxer

A subset of the [smaller unofficial Discord server](https://discourse.nixos.org/t/new-discord-to-discuss-nix-nixos-and-the-wider-ecosystem/51953)has started a sister community on [Fluxer](https://fluxer.app/), the Discord-like open source messaging platform that has recently gained a lot popularity. Like our Discord-pendant, the community is meant for anyone interested in Nix, NixOS, Lix, Snix and whatever else might be considered part of the wider ecosystem. We also have a bridge in place to communicate between the Discord and Fluxer community, but that is for now restricted to a dedicated channel, so you don’t have to worry about your messages being shared with Discord unless you make use of this bridged channel.
Note that this is currently just using the official Fluxer infrastructure. While selfhosting is already possible with some hurdles and federation is planned, a lot of that is still in flux (🥁). Once these parts are set and ready, we may move the community to a selfhosted / federated instance in the future.

Looks promising.
PS: Personally I highly wish CINNY (matrix client) just add some features to make it work like discord totally. [https://cinny.in/](https://cinny.in/)
To make it look like discord it won’t even be a ground up implementation coz it’s almost all same features in matrix and discord. Only the UI to be implemented.
Or I wish we have something like that in xmpp
