The Nix team has continued work on things like RFC 134 and RFC 136 which aim to create layers of functionality. This way the Store layer can be used on it’s own without the Nix-Language. Or one could create a new front-end as a flakes alternative, or tooling to wrap around Nix and make it easier to use.
