I tried Linux at the beginning of 2023, and have been hooked ever since.
After starting with the (beginner friendly) Zorin OS, I distro-hopped a few times, until I discovered NixOS. The idea of a declarative build seemed like exactly what I wanted, so I tried it, liked it, and now use only NixOS.
I don’t have any formal IT/Tech training, my career is in business administration, but as a hobby I’m working on improving my tech skills right now.
My current curriculum of learning is:
- SQL (SQLite and PostgreSQL)
- Text Editors and IDE’s
- Git and GitHub
- Python and Nix Expression (my first languages, wish me luck!)
- Linux/NixOS
The plan is to focus on these for another year, so I should have a basic understanding of tech and development in the end.
