  • Started rewriting the niv guide for nix.dev (no PR yet)

• @alejandrosame got questions during Ocean Sprint about moving the manuals to nix.dev. People wanted to know if, for example, nix.dev would be redirected from dev.nixos.org

  • @fricklerhandwerk: after the manuals are moved to nix.dev, the existing links will point to the manuals under nix.dev. All the context on domain names is in the issue on the NixOS Foundation board tracker: project domain name · Issue #34 · NixOS/foundation · GitHub

• We got confused over how Nixpkgs release channels work.
  • @Raitobezarius informed us with what went into this issue: Document channel branches and release channels · Issue #263230 · NixOS/nixpkgs · GitHub
  • There should definitely be something like “What channel should I follow?” section somewhere
    • This is the only bit that should be in nix.dev
    • @fricklerhandwerk: Doesn’t make much sense to work on it before we have clear reference documentation on it
