Stuck on step 1, testing, systematizing #9066
Reproducing the original issue is feasible in functional test suite, but achieving coverage of the other cases, combinations is tricky
Maybe try without sourcing the normal setup? (Makefile/run-test.sh perform minimal setup: common-test.sh)
@edolstra and @fricklerhandwerk will pair up in next work session

Agreed that wrapper struct is beneficial and worth the slight “overhead” for UNIX. It’s a cost we’d pay in CI, where the cost/latency is higher.

- takes time, @roberth’s and @fricklerhandwerk’s availability is currently very low
  - @roberth will definitely stick around for the C API, will add himself as codeowner to make that explicit
- @Ericson2314 works with people on GSoC, Windows, building/scheduling code
- @tomberek is also doing GSoC, yes, willing to mentor and do office hours

- @tomberek will get fix out this week
- @tomberek plan to add another fix to address the larger class of problems

discussed the broken NIX_PATH handling
- @fricklerhandwerk did not manage to make any progress
  - got ground up into the overall test setup’s complexity, then had other priorities
- (some back and forth about approaches)
  - rough agreement that the test setup is hard to penetrate
- will pair to explore that with @edolstra at Monday meeting
