Alternatives to Stylix that do not use Base16

Are there any alternatives to Stylix that do not use Base16? I would like a way to declaratively theme my setup with a color scheme and fonts, but I really do not like how Base16 arbitrarily lumps together different things under the same color, such as variables and error messages.

Let me know if you find an alternative to stylix. Stylix isn’t effective. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

This is another option I’m aware of, but so far haven’t found any that I really felt suited me perfectly. GitHub - Misterio77/nix-colors: Modules and schemes to make theming with Nix awesome.

The only alternative I’ve found to Stylix that I’ve liked is GitHub - Stonks3141/ctp-nix: ❄️ Soothing pastel theme for Nix, although it’s specific to the Catppuccin color schemes. As far as I know we’re out of luck for declaratively managing custom color schemes.

Essentially rather than generating themes from a set of colors, it applies a hand-made theme.

I still plan to use Stylix to manage fonts and cursors, since they’re planning on letting you enable them independently from colors: Don't configure colors · Issue #248 · danth/stylix · GitHub.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think theming is broken forever and I’ve wasted a lot of time. Now I’ve switched to gruvbox-light full time. I don’t use dark mode. Even I’m still using stylix for cursor and applying gruvbox-light to wherever it can.
