These are some of the best written release notes I’ve ever read, and I already read all the previous Lix release notes. They make everything so transparent and easy to understand, I wish every software did this!
It is very clear that the entire team spends a lot of time considering both the architecture and underbelly of the project as well as the UX. Many of these features have been sorely missing for years!
I’m so hyped about coerce-integers and the better error messages, Cap’n Proto is a great choice for the daemon protocol, there’s just so much good stuff here.
I am kinda concerned about nixpkgs’ binary cache becoming even larger than it already is with zstd, but your reasoning is 100% on point and I’m not sure hydra uses Lix anyway, so that might be moot.
Overall incredible work, this is exactly the direction I love to see nix develop in!
