Coming recently from macOS, where you can painlessly copy/paste from everywhere without having to worry about multiple buffers (that I don’t understand even to this day why they exist), I find extremely frustrating to sometimes have to use CTRL+SHIFT+INSERT instead of CTRL+V to paste the correct content.
Is there a way to somehow unify all these buffers, so I have always the same data in all of them? I know this is more a generic linux question, but I was wondering if maybe NixOS has a integrated solution for this?
If it helps, I am currently using Plasma 6 with Wayland.
Well, you can just not use the selection you don’t want to use. If you’re struggling with the traditional two-selection “clipboard”, just don’t middle click to paste and you will never even notice there are two.
Is what you’re struggling with the Xorg vs wayland clipboard? I’ve not used Plasma much recently, but some compositors don’t explicitly sync them, which can indeed be a PITA. Wayland also doesn’t “remember” the contents of something you copied if you close the associated application (security reasons…). Both of those problems can be solved with an external clipboard manager/history; Plasma offers one if I’m not mistaken.
