Automate package version upgrades too?

Take a simple application like gnome’s text editor. All the time, maintainers do is just bump up the version & update SHA256.
Can there be any better way to automate these stuff ? Like building a tool that autofetches version & sha256 after a certain period, like a week or a month ? That would be amazing. Caz maintainers don’t even need to touch the package configs once they’ve been initially set.
