Configuring kodi, default settings

Hi,

I wanted to try Kodi and was delighted to see nix-shell -p kodi --run kodi simply work.

However, my XBox gamepad wasn’t recognized out of the box. Turns out that

  1. it needs a plugin
  2. this plugin is disabled by default in NixOS
  3. I have no idea how to configure it

Can anybody help here? I helped myself by changing the default from false to true in all-packages.nix, but that can’t be the way to go.

Also, why are controllers deactivated by default? It seems like a very common use-case for Kodi.

If you are on NixOS, you can set nixpkgs.config.kodi.enableControllers = true inside your configuration.nix
