Disable default DS4 support?

I simply just want to disable any default support and just manage my DS4 using Steam Input.

To be honest Im not sure if this is more related to GNOME or to the linux kernel itself or to the way the DS4 drivers are implemented.

Just by plugging in the DS4 the touchbar works as a trackpad,
and you do can disable that in the setting of your DE by turning off the support of all trackpads in your system.
But that means you now lose the touchbar and can not map it in Steam Input.

If you use the wayland version of gnome than gnome is handling input devices. Not sure how to fix your issue but it’s libinput that handles the input configuration under the hood: libinput - ArchWiki
