emacsPackages.ghostel fails to fetch zig dependencies

Not sure if it’s a Nix/nixpkgs issue (or a Zig/ghostty/ghostel issue) so I decided to create a forum topic first.

After updating nixpkgs from 241313f4 to eaad0894, rebuilding my system started failing while fetching Zig dependencies of emacsPackages.ghostel:

I’ve found a couple of somewhat relevant issues in different repos:

Build fail · Issue #3366 · ghostty-org/ghostty · GitHub — this blames Codeberg availability; I doubt it’s the case because fetching the files in the browser (and by using different CLI HTTP clients) downloads them just fine;
herdr: init at 0.7.0 by kevinpita · Pull Request #518310 · NixOS/nixpkgs · GitHub — the problem was with Zig version mismatch which is not the issue here.

There’s also #30853 - fetch of gitlab repo gives `TlsInitializationFailed` - ziglang/zig - Codeberg.org which alludes to some problems with extra TLS certificates in a chain, but it that doesn’t seems to be the issue since zig fetch successfully downloads the deps in question:

Is it a sandboxing issue? I also noticed that while emacsPackages.ghostel uses the zig.fetchDeps fetcher (which in turn delegates to zig build --fetch under the hood), the ghostty package utilizes the built-in fetchers — I wonder if a similar approach could be taken here?

I think it’s been happening every time the packages are updated? It was working for me the other day, and then suddenly an flake update halted the rebuild.

Unfortunately, I cannot speak about “every time” — I only started using the package somewhat recently (about a couple of weeks ago). The installation worked fine that time, and then I updated the inputs and it broke

Maybe when it worked the package got fetched from the binary cahce?
