Error when installing NixOS through USB flash drive

I am unable to go past stage 1 of installation because of an error

mounting /mnt-root/iso/nix-store.squashfs on /nix/.ro-store
[…] /dev/loop0: Can’t open blockdev
[…] unable to read id index table
mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on /mnt-root/ failed: Invalid argument
An error occurred in stage 1 of the boot process, which must
mount the root filesystem on ‘/mnt-root’ and start the stage 2.
Press one of the following keys:
i) to launch an interactive shell
f) to start an interactive shell having pid 1
(needed if you want to start stage 2’s init manually)
r) to reboot immediately
*) to ignore the error and continue

I burned the image to USB using this instructions

Did you use the Gnome iso from Download Nix / NixOS | Nix & NixOS or a different image?

If you’re OK with being on a really recent version it might be interesting to try the one from nixos-unstable, currently downloadable from Hydra - Build 176445196 of job nixos:trunk-combined:nixos.iso_gnome.x86_64-linux

Is there any updates on this? I managed to manually mount mnt-root to / but I’m not sure what to do next.
