Hi all! I’m getting started learning how to package for nix, I’ve made a package and nixos module for setec, a Tailscale secrets manager.
But because secrets management is something you really need to know your stuff for, I should probably not be the one evaluating if how it’s packaged is secure (I’m a noob). If someone with some experience could help validate the work and help me understand what would need to be done in order to properly maintain something security critical like this, I would be most grateful!

I’d keep the flake for development purpose only and offer only vanilla nix file entry points. Others might disagree.
I filed a small issue.
Why not contribute this to Nixpkgs?

Before putting this on nixpkgs I’d want to know there is any demand for it. Right now it is super quick to build and fairly trivial to integrate (if you use flakes, and hopefully standard nix after new changes are merged). Along with that it’s the number 1 result in DuckDuckGo if you search “setec nixos”.
NixPkgs is great and I really want to start contributing to the project, but I would rather not until this proves to be something that would be worth it and not just add another package to Hydras queue.
But again, I’m a little green to making nix packages in general, so if anyone thinks it’s worth it, I’d be happy to do it
