Thinking about opening an upstream PR to add Nix/NixOS to the how-do-I-install-this documentation for a package I maintain made me wonder if there’s a material need for something a little like the usage notes on NixOS Search (see screenshot below)–but explicitly tuned to the needs of upstreams that may not have regular contributors that use Nix?
I guess the devil might be in the edge cases. It wouldn’t be very slick to suggest people can just take nix-shell -p postgresql_15 out for a spin…
