Librewolf slower after upgrading to 25.05 from 24.11

  • My config is at GitHub - xNyfPtx/nix-config
  • I use flakes
  • nixos-version outputs ‘25.05.20250525.7c43f08 (Warbler)’
  • When I first start Librewolf, the first few sites load fast. After the first few minutes, all sites load slower for some reason. I tested my internet and browser benchmark and it is indeed slower
  • Librewolf is the only one affected. Sometimes, the websites don’t even load at all or not load the CSS and fonts.
  • Kernel version 6.12.30, previous is 6.6.91 where Librewolf wasn’t slower.

I have no fix but I’m currently experiencing similar issues with regular firefox too.

I can’t edit the post again for some reason but I nuked my system with 25.05 on it yet the issue still remains when I switched back to my config.

For some reason, the first generation has a different NixOS version. The rest are different. I think this has to do with my flake.lock. Interestingly, I didn’t experience any browser lag on the default web browser of Gnome but after the next few generations, the browsers started lagging.

Update, it seems the problem might have to with to do with wi-fi. Updating packages and building takes longer than usual due to the time it takes to download it. I have no fixes at the moment but I am trying to rewrite my config from a blank slate on a live usb to see what causes it.

Last update, it is now fixed for some reason. Wifi speeds are back to normal and so are loading pages. It eitther randomly happened or due to nix flake update
