Mediatek 7902 - Wifi

Hello, i am running a NixOs in the latest linux kernel(6.17.7) and my pc has a mediatek 7902 wifi card, currently i am unable to connect to the internet if not by using my phone as a relay.

I have tried everything, installing new firmware, and looking for some repos on github that i can use, but so far i am being unable to make it work, any ideas?

I found that there is no available driver for this WiFi card. You can try using an external WiFi adapter but I haven’t found any alternatives.

Same here, i have write this in order to bring some light to the matter and maybe someone know how to fix it.

For me an USB wifi card is suboptimal(but feasabile) since i am using a laptop and the point is being lightweight and having to carry extra stuff defeat said objective.

Thanks for your reply ^^

No driver means there is no driver. There’s nothing to fix other than hoping Mediatek supports the device on Linux and releases a driver soon.

GitHub - TMTCo/mt7902driver: A newbie-friendly, temporary solution that encourages all contributions for long-term and stable use for MT7902 driver on Linux is the closest thing I found to a driver, but as far as I understood, they are just doing some string replacements from a different driver and hoping it works.

Either way, it’s not an issue specific to Nix/NixOS and far outside the forum’s expertise to work on (though you might find someone with that expertise in the community).
