Artifactory is used by many companies. This might enable more Nix adoption in the future.
Wow, that’s big news! Enterprises are often reluctant to adopt new tech and justifying the adoption of Nix is a lot more difficult when you also have to pitch cachix or a custom solution to reduce reliance on cache.nixos.org. But many already use Artifactory, it’s a trusted brand and can be compliant to security standards in highly regulated industries. Pitching the adoption of Nix is much simpler now when it’s just a binary dependency.
I hope others follow suit! Support for nix packages is not difficult to implement and gives a more uniform interface than the “genric” package type many package repositories offer.
