NixOS - Getting Nix / NixOS says the latest version of Nix is 2.2.1, but the current master of nixpkgs (and the latest nixpkgs-unstable channel) still only lists Nix-2.2. Is there a reason why the latest stable version of Nix isn’t available in nixpkgs? There’s also no release notes for it in the manual.

The only difference from 2.2 seems to be install: Use base-16 hashes · NixOS/nix@d7eade3 · GitHub, which is only relevant to the installer script published on the website and doesn’t seem to affect nix as installed from nixpkgs, so I guess this is why it hasn’t been updated there.
