Variation Graphs is a toolkit for working with genome variation graphs.
It provides tools for mapping, calling, and manipulating variation graph representations of genomes.

Try it out

Visit the application page, launch Variation Graphs in a shell environment:

nix shell github:ngi-nix/forge/335017b8#vg-app

and follow the usage instructions.

This work has been done by @eljamm as part of the Nix@NGI packaging effort, funded by NLnet under the NGI0 Review grant(s).

Also, a thanks goes out to @magicrb, whose previous packaging attempt helped iron out a few things.

It is excellent to see that NGI work is picking up recently!

Instead of making several one-post topics a day, do you think you and the other NGI folks could create a long-running topic for packaging announcements? Maybe one topic for the year or season or whatever unit of time makes sense?

Yes, you certainly make a fair point. We were previously doing this, but it was quite time and energy-consuming, that’s why we settled on this more maintainable format.

We also believe that individual posts like this could highlight each project and showcase it to the community in a more digestible manner.

I know the posting may seem like too much right now, but it’s because we already have a backlog of completed but unannounced projects. As time goes on, we expect the number of posts to be more reasonable.

In the meantime, everything we post is under the NGI Zero category, so muting it is always an option if this gets too noisy.
