Hey everyone! :wave:
We are happy to finally announce NixCon 2024!

This is an event by the community for the community. We want to show that we are self sufficient, and for that reason there will be no sponsorships this time. We want to have a larger emphasis on workshops and on working together on problems we deeply care about.

Date: Friday, October 25th - Sunday, October 27th
Location: bUm Berlin.
Tickets: NixCon 2024 €133.70 (Regular). Friends & Business Tickets will also be available. Ticket sales will begin in the coming week. There will be a new announcement for that.
Focus: Everything Nix, including a diverse mix of workshops and talks for all levels, from beginners to experts.

What to Expect:

Workshops and Talks: For beginners, intermediates, and pros alike.
Open Hackcentre: Collaborate on your projects or just chill.
Hackday: A dedicated day to work on important projects or just hang out with other nix hackers.

Call for Papers

We invite the community to contribute their talk or workshop ideas. Keep an eye out for the separate CfP announcement.

Call for Help

We are still looking for volunteers wanting to help out. Stay tuned for further announcements on how you can help us :slight_smile:

We invited Carlos Matos for motivational speaking. Don’t worry, it will be strictly about NixOS, nothing to do with crypto. Not sure if he will come, but let’s keep our fingers crossed!

And ticket prices will not be dependent on this, he will be coming 100% on his own budget. He loves NixOS, believe it or not.

This is a bit of an ironic post, for those who don’t get it. But there will maybe be some kind of surprise, as a small teaser.

There is none for the website, and there probably won’t be.

I’d recommend following this thread with your RSS reader.

Meaning: appending .rss to the URL.

What are the clothing recommendations? What weather should I expect? Is it above 10 celsius?

October should be around 10°C, so might be a bit above or below. I wouldn’t expect snow but rain is definitely possible.

Is the foundation sponsoring speakers for travel for NixCon?
I’d love to attend but trans-atlantic travel is pricey.
