NixOS should probably replace its dated default fonts with the fonts Ubuntu used to replace DejaVu fonts (which we use right now).
No idea what other folks think about this though let me know :3

Yes, but I’m not sure that it should be the default monospace font.
Why should we do this? Aside from “Ubuntu is doing it”, what’s a good reason?

Bad support for non-latin characters mainly is a big one also unicode support for DejaVu fonts being lackluster.
Noto (“no tofu”) has been better at unicode coverage in general, since that is explicitly a goal of their project.
We already use Noto for CJK support btw, might as well use it for other things too.

But you didn’t assist last time fonts.fontconfig.defaultFonts.cursive - #3 by asdf8dfafjk so what’s the point of mentioning! 
I don’t submit PRs for things that I don’t use, like default fonts 
If you want it fixed, fix it. Or rather, send a PR and get feedback from the people who do use and care about it.
