I’m suddenly unable to rebuild my configuration.nix. The only thing I did was add cron to systemPackages.

In the process of trying to fix this, one post included a garbage collection so I’ve lost my generations history – but between the last few generations the linux kernel toggled between 6.6.57 and 6.6.58 a couple of times. That’s the only other thing (besides adding cron) that I’m aware was changed.

You mentioned building nixos-rebuild locally – is that something I should try (and if so, could you give me a hint as to how)?

…still won’t build, same error as above.
Try running nix-store --verify --check-contents --repair to try and fix the issues, then run nixos-rebuild as before.
The verify operation will take longer as nix is checking the hash of all the files, however I suspect that more files have been corrupted.

The corruption you see may be caused by forcefully powering off the computer in the middle of an update on some filesystems.
